Plantar Fasciitis is a very common condition that affects more than 3 million people in the US year. This is a condition that arises from strenuous activities which result in an inflamed plantar fascia. The Plantar Fascia is a tissue at the bottom of your foot that extends from your heel to the tips of your toes. Though plantar fasciitis can affect anyone, certain people are more susceptible to this condition and have higher risks of causing damage to their plantar fascia.

- Long-distance runners
- Jobs that require you to be on your feet often
- Active men and women age 40-70
- Pregnant women
- People with flat feet or high arches
If you are overweight, have obesity, or are pregnant, your feet are undergoing extra pressure. The pressure is applied to the ligaments of the tissue of your plantar fascia, which acts as the foundation of your feet. This condition is particularly popular in women who are pregnant as well since the weight gain was sudden. Runners commonly get plantar fascia because of the strain on your feet from running long distance. You are also at risk if you run or exercise with ill-fitting shoes or shoes that don’t support your feet and arch. If you are always standing on your feet, such as factory workers or nurses, you also have a higher risk of straining your plantar fascia because of the constant pressure without rest or sitting.
On top of that, if you are between the ages of 40 and 70, you fall in the age category of people most susceptible to having this condition, and if you are a man, you are at higher risk of plantar fasciitis than women. In addition, people with very flat feet, high arches, or if you wear shoes with a poor arch that don’t support your feet then you are at higher risk of getting plantar fasciitis as well.
